Letter from the Publisher
We hope you love this issue! During the past few months, your team at CitySmart has been developing creative ways to reach smarter, sleeker, and more stylish heights. We’ve sought the best designers to improve the look of the magazine and our editorial staff has grown to push us even further in cutting edge trends and topics.
Since our inception, we’ve blazed our own path creating an essence and voice that is uniquely ours and we thank you for noticing. Your letters of support as well as those of constructive criticism prove to us that being innovators in the industry is something you respect and admire. We will continue lighting the path in 2008, proving that with great risk can comes even greater reward.
In this issue, whether you are having problems sleeping, enduring a midlife crisis, or trying to break out of a dead-end relationship, we have provided information to help you understand and make it through. We also feature helpful tips for brides-to-be, preview the bold fashions of spring, and show you unique gifts sure to please the person you love. From the blossoming culture of our own Miami to the bustling attractions of Australia and even the secrets of the global marketplace, CitySmart continues to deliver the world to you on a silver platter.
With so much diversity in our pages, it may seem confining to stick with one overall theme, but we feel that “love” has the ability to transcend any barriers or boundaries – whatever, whenever, wherever. As we begin to settle into the New Year, we can attempt to broaden our awareness of the love surrounding us and within us. Rather than dwell on a rough 2007-year or on the pundits predicting a rocky road ahead in 2008, now is the time to love ourselves and others. One of the greatest gifts we can give is kindness, so empower yourself with it and watch it spread.
As you go through your day, if someone smiles at you, smile back. It will brighten not only your day, but theirs as well. Really listen when someone is talking to you and hear what they have to say. You might learn something. And don’t look at what you don’t have or could have, but rather what does work in your life, the blessings, and the wonderful people that do surround you. When was the last time you called your children or your parents or that person that was once so close but the passing time has caused distance? Now is the time to reconnect.
That also means reconnecting with yourself and taking time to enjoy life. Think about re-evaluating and re-establishing yourself – just for you! So whether you are in love or still looking, take a moment to savor a luscious piece of chocolate, soak in a bubble bath, or slip into something soft and sexy. Making time for pampering is a present you need to give yourself on a regular basis. Remember, a simple smile, a nice compliment, and those often missing “Please’s” and “Thank You’s” are the day-to-day bouquets we can give each other. Start sending a few roses and soon you’ll have more opportunities to smell them!
